Tina and Alice’s Story
Tina leads a busy life outside Boston, raising two teenagers on her own and holding down a demanding job in the financial sector. Her mom, Alice, moved to Naples about 10 years ago, finding a warm circle of friends and taking part in activities she loved, such as painting. But recently, the 86-year-old woman has been slowing down, as Tina learned on a recent visit. There were many instances of forgetfulness and a doctor’s visit indicated that Alice would require foot surgery. Tina knew they needed help in managing Mom’s care, but didn’t know where to turn.
Fortunately, the medical office referred her to Complete Elder Solutions. A phone consult with caring staff led Tina to choose the Assurance annual membership program. She immediately felt her stress melt away as her Care Coach assessed her mother’s needs and discussed a health care plan for Alice. Tina appreciated the staff’s depth of knowledge about the care process and the high-quality resources in the area.
After discussing the options available to Alice, Tina and the Care Coach agreed on a plan: CES provided recommendations for vetted agencies that could provide Alice with regular wellness checks and transportation to appointments. After her surgery, the doctor’s office arranged for nursing and home health care. Her wellness checks and transportation services continued and CES also provided recommendations for nutritious meal delivery.
Alice healed from her surgery and can walk more steadily than before. But a few months later, through an assessment from CES, it was determined that she would be safer at an assisted living facility. Again, CES was there with guidance and recommendations. With the supports CES helped put in place, she has remained active and has resumed her artwork and social activities. Tina says, “I’m so relieved that Mom’s quality of life has improved, thanks in great part to Complete Elder Solutions. They helped ease these transitions and we have a plan for what may come next. I can sleep better knowing I have unlimited access to my Assurance program and their Care Coaches.”
